LIBERIA FASHION TAILORING

LIBERIA FASHION TAILORINGepa09473746 Chernor Mohamadu Jalloh sews a garment at his Guilla Taylor shop in Mount Barclay, outside Monrovia, Liberia, 17 September 2021. Jalloh, a professional tailor, started at age 15 after dropping out of school and spent more than twelve years in the tailoring business. He has trained ten youth in the profession, most of whom are school drop-outs or without basic education, to get a job and provide them alternative means of survival. The youth serve as dressmaking apprentices for two years. Many young people seek alternative skills to sustain themselves and their families amid a high rate of youth unemployment in Liberia, a country rebuilding itself after more than a decade of civil war. In two weeks, Venezuela will release its new currency after the third reconversion of this century, with which six zeros will disappear from the sovereign bolivar and the digital bolivar will be born, but, far from seeing it as a respite, citizens wait with many doubts and the indifference of those who have become accustomed to de facto dollarization.
