Descriere: epa09469080 Yemeni students attend class inside a damaged classroom of the Science and Faith school at Maqreesh village on the northeast outskirts of Sana'a, Yemen, 12 September 2021 (Issued 15 September 2021). Around 740 Yemeni students share the cramped gender segregated tents or damaged classes of the Science and Faith school on the northeast outskirts of Sana'a after eight classes of their schoolâs compound were completely destroyed by Saudi-led airstrikes in October 2015. Yemenâs conflict has taken a devastating toll on education, and worsened the living conditions in one of the poorest Arab countries, but the peoples' resolve for education seem untouched. ICRC says more than 2,500 schools have been fully or partially destroyed as a result of the conflict. The United Nations children's fund UNICEF said in July that more than two million school-age children were out of school, and that two-thirds of teachers in Yemen â' over 170,000 teachers in total â' have not received a regular salary for more than four years.
