Ciolos, a former Romanian prime minister, EU commissioner for Agriculture, and now the leader of the Save Romania Union (USR) party, was nominated as new prime minister by Romanian President Klaus Iohannis after the Citu cabinet of the former government failed to pass a no-confidence vote in parliament.
