The Sri Lankan government has imposed an island-wide curfew until further notice to slow the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus that causes COVID-19 disease. According to police reports, 52,000 workers from the Western Province were trapped in their temporary accommodation when the curfew was strictly enforced. On 02 May, the Sri Lankan police, with the support of the health authorities, made arrangements to register the group of stranded workers and transport them to their respective homes across the island after they had undergone medical tests for signs of COVID-19 disease.
