Descriere: epa09023412 Members of a Yemeni family, who eat the rounded fleshy leaves of Ghulaf, get a food ration provided by a local aid group, Mona Relief Yemen, at a distribution center at the mountain village of Bani al-Qallam some 100 km south west of Sanaâa, Yemen, 13 February 2021 (Issued 19 February 2021). In the mountain village of Bani al-Qallam, located on a mountain cliff just 100 from Sanaa, people are eating the rounded fleshy leaves of Ghulaf, the local name of Cyphostemma digitatum, to survive as the six-year war forced them to starvation. With around 2,500 inhabitants, it is one of the countryâs unreachable and forgotten villages. Its tribal community has lost cattle and corps because of the war. Yemen country has been broken by six years of war between the Iran-aligned Houthis rebels and the internationally recognised government of the exiled president Abdu-Rabbeh Mansour Hadi.
