The opposition Social Democratic Party pushed a no-confidence motion against Ludovic Orban;s cabinet two weeks ago, accusing the government of incompetently managing the situation during the pandemic. The motion needs 240 votes to pass. If the motion is passed, Orban's government is dismissed but can remain on an interim basis, for the next 45 days. Local elections for Romania are scheduled for September 27, and Parliamentary elections are to be held in December 2020, if the COVID 19 pandemic does not alter the course of events.
