Gorolova and Botosova, who were sterilized in 1990 and 1991, are two of involuntary sterilized Romani women during practice dated to communist regime like well-thought-out plan and lasting until 1993. The 1971 directive allowed for the systematic sterilization of Romani women and women with disabilities without their full and informed consent as a means of controlling their birth rates. The debate about compensation for victims of sterilizations is currently discussed in the Czech Chamber of Deputies. The law should compensate about 400 victims who have survived.
